OUR VALUES
We use the phrase “Life Transforming Relationship with Jesus” to paint a picture of what happens when we follow Jesus day to day. We are gradually and inevitably changed as we trust Him and value what He values. Christians through the ages have called this process “Discipleship”. The apostle Paul described the process this way in Romans 12:1-2 “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” (NIV) Because of God’s mercy through Jesus, we put our faith and hope in Him. We surrender our lives to His guidance and His wisdom. Our whole, daily life becomes an act of worship given to Him. And we diligently renew our minds with the truth of His Word in the power of His Spirit. And, over time, this way of discipleship transforms us so that we live, and love and serve others in our daily lives in ways that remind people of Jesus. Along with the Great Commands comes a Great Co-mission. In Matthew 28:18-20 Jesus gave some of his final instructions: “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (NIV) There can be no mistaking Jesus’ intent in sharing this right before He ascended to heaven: He meant this to be our ongoing, unceasing highest priority. We value every opportunity to share the love of God, to declare the truth that Jesus is King, and to invite people to trust Him as their Savior and the giver of new life.
